Invited Lecture on “Microbial biotechnology for Sustainable development”
Dr. Binod Parameswaran, Principal Scientist of Microbial processes and Technology Division of NIIST,
CSIR Thiruvananthapuram delivered a thought-provoking lecture on “Microbial biotechnology for
sustainable development” on 16 th May 2023 via google meet. He discussed about the role of microbial
biotechnology in offering innovative solutions to address environmental, agricultural and industrial
challenges. The enlightening talk also emphasized on the contributions of microbial biotechnology in the
production of biofuels, bioplastics, bio-based chemicals, reducing dependence on fossil fuels and
minimizing carbon emissions. Being an expert in the field of Bioprocess technology, Dr. Binod explained
about various eco-friendly processes for better utilization of natural resources and developing a
sustainable future.
