Workshop on DNA fingerprinting

Dept of Zoology in association with makeintern.com and Wetlabchampionship conducted a workshop on DNA fingerprinting on Sep 19 and 20, 2019. Ms Elizabeth V. Mathew facilitated the workshop in the capacity of coordinator and Dr Prasantha C. N. from Bangalore was the main faculty. Thirty eight delegates from various colleges in and around Cochin participated actively. Participants included undergraduate, postgraduate and research students. Hands on sessions on DNA isolation, PCR and gel electrophoresis were held. A session on bioinformatics was conducted on the second day. Based on written exam and group discussion, five delegates were selected to participate in the science event ‘Shaastra’ to be held in IIT Madras.
